Meet the Instructor

Hey, there! I’m Melissa Glaves, owner and music instructor at Magpie Lesson Studio. With over 30 years of performance experience and over 14 years of teaching music to Pre-K students through adults, it is my absolute JOY to provide a fun and welcoming atmosphere for students of all ages and skill levels to learn and create. All of my lessons are customized to the pace and goals of each student to achieve growth in both competence and confidence. There is nothing better than seeing students WIN!

Why “Magpie”?

When I was a little girl my maternal grandma (whom we lovingly called “Mamoo”) used to call me her little magpie because I never stopped singing, talking, and expressing myself. Some things never change! I’m still a magpie and I can’t think of a better name for a space for encouragement, authenticity, and creating together.
